Pandemic Unemployment Assistance
Provisions in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (also known as the CARES Act) which became law on March 27, 2020, provided benefits to individuals not otherwise eligible for participation in traditional unemployment insurance programs. This benefit is known as Pandemic Unemployment Assistance or PUA.
Peace Corps can issue you a letter verifying your eligibility for PUA, but ultimately you will need to apply with the state for benefits. In California Peace Corps volunteers can apply for PUA here.
